This past week, the Restrict Act also known as Bill S.686 finally came to light on social media as a very pressing, concerning issue. To sum up, the bill would impose “unrestricted surveillance of any entity, person, or corporation and the restriction or elimination of free expression in the digital sphere.”
Our Chief Technology Officer, Kevin Hartig, drafted a letter that any one of you can send to your representatives and Senators in Washington DC to encourage them to vote NO, against the Restrict Act S.686.

Many on social media have commented that the Restrict Act is The Patriot Act on steroids, applied to digital communications, where freedoms of speech and privacy, namely the 1st and 4th Amendments, are being trampled on. The Restrict Act would empower the government to surveil all digital content, have rights to censor any digital content, and then fine the content creator for creating the content they found disagreeable.
2023 is well past the year 1984, which is when Big Brother was supposed to show up, but I guess they fell behind and are just now getting to that part of the scripted attempt at world domination. The good news is, there are more everyday good people than there are tyrannical narcissist type people. The solution is to get the everyday good people to push back and send letters demanding that your government representatives vote NO on the most narcissistic bill ever written.
You probably already know the saying, that evil triumphs when good people do nothing. So, if you’re a good person, validate your goodness by doing something good.
On March 20, 2023 there was a data breach which exposed ChatGPT user conversations and subscriber payment information. The country of Italy then decided to ban ChatGPT altogether for unauthorized data collection and lack of age verification.
Both are issues that our platform FISE Portal solves. All data is in the control of the user in terms of how much user data is exposed, to whom it is shown, for how long, and restrictions or permissions for re-sharing. FISE Portal also enables the verification of age with official third party approved verified credentials that affirm a user is of a legal age, without exposing exact details of the user’s date of birth.
The question of who owns the data generated by AI when the user uses an AI product is gaining more and more relevance, and with laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation, and the California Consumer Privacy Act, the law is clear. The user using the AI product has rights to own and control that data.
FISE Portal is the platform and mechanism to do exactly that. It enables the user to own and control their digital identity and data.
We are set to launch sometime before the end of this year. Our CTO Kevin Hartig has been engineering a combination of services that has no one has ever created, and yet, is sorely needed. The news about Italy banning ChatGPT and the Restrict Act are proof that something is definitely missing in our digital user experience. Some very smart people actually wrote a book about it, called Self Sovereign Identity.
While I was reading the book, I kept thinking to myself that what they were writing about, we at FISE Portal were actually building out a platform addressing the issues and possible solutions in the book. The link to the book is also in the description.
